No doubt the staff from the RSPCA (England and Wales) have been called on to make some unusual rescues from unusual situations, but this one involving a pony stuck in a tractor tire has to go down in the books as the strangest.

Residents had contacted the RSPCA after spotting a pony completely stuck inside of the large tire lying on its side in a field in Stoke-on-Trent, a city in England.
RSPCA rescuer Nicola Riley arrived to help with the “delicate” rescue. The poor little guy was matted, dirty and unable to free himself. While he was still breathing, it was clear he was in distress and in need of quick action.
The local neighbors and friends were able to lift the tire while Riley eased out his front feet first, then his should and finally his neck. The pony was able to stand, and by some good fortune, he was not injured. Of course, it took him awhile to regain his balance and his strength.

Thankfully teamwork made the dream work… Once he’d been monitored for a little while, Nicola was able to leave him to it, with the tyre removed from the situation.
The pony was soon back grazing with his friend and seemingly forgot about his terrible experience. The tire was removed from the pasture to make sure the incident would never reoccur.
And NO ONE has yet to figure out how the pony got himself into this rather precarious situation.
