In Modesto, California, a heroic woman who witnessed a dog thrown from a moving vehicle, rescued him and brought the scared pup to the Stanislaus Animal Shelter.

The Good Samaritan contacted Stand Up For Pits Foundation asking for assistance hoping to make sure the dog could be helped to find a loving family.

I watched this dog get thrown from a moving truck. He had a rusted chain around his neck and 3 feet long. As he stumbled to regain his feet, he was tripping over it.

As the woman stopped her own vehicle to make sure the dog wasn’t injured, the dog immediately sensed her kindness and jumped into her car, and even though she was afraid of the dog because he appeared to be a bully breed, she drove him to the shelter. She was not able to take the dog home with her because of size and breed restrictions at her rented apartment.

When she arrived at the shelter, the staff was kind enough to take the dog, even though they are currently overcrowded, but before she left, the woman did another heartwarming kind deed:

I have arranged to pay his adoption fee or donate to a rescue so that this old man can have a loving home.

The next day the woman returned to the shelter hoping she could take the dog she saved to the yard and spend some time getting to known him. The shelter wouldn’t permit that because of liability.

The dog does have an owner; his microchip states his name is Gage. The shelter is therefore obligated to hold him until January 28, 2023 so his owner can claim him. Sadly, Gage is completely shut down. It is hoped it wasn’t Gage’s owner who threw him out of the truck, but please network this poor senior in order to help him.

We all would love to think Gage’s family will come to the shelter looking for him, and it was someone else who threw him away as if his life didn’t matter anymore, but this dog needs an alternate plan to save his life.

Please share his heartbreaking story with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

  1. I know you worked hard on the new format but I like the old one better. I liked being able to see the old posts and some I missed.

  2. The new format looks nice, but I agree with the previous commenter that the old format was more user friendly and gave access to many more articles – including the ability to go back and see old posts that I had missed.
