In St. Louis, a Good Samaritan found eight dogs including four puppies abandoned in an old crate and a plastic tub dumped along the side of a highway early Saturday morning. The puppies had been locked in the plastic tub and when discovered were overheated and barely able to breathe.

It had been Stray Rescue of St. Louis who stepped up to help. The man, who found the dogs, had been turned away from other shelters because of overcrowded conditions.

a man arrived. He said he found this crate (4 soaked adults) and this tub (4 very hot puppies) on the side of the highway. He’s been turned away from other shelters and now he’s here. It kills us to set up more crates, our staff is exhausted. So…we said yes to these EIGHT. When we opened the tub we are so thankful the puppies didn’t suffocate there was no air in there. They’re about 2 months old each.

This family is safe but the rescue organization is at capacity and need the public’s help. They are officially shutting down all rescue efforts until they can get the situation under control. With that in mind, in celebration of National Dog Day, they are asking for people to foster a dog.

They will be open tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. They are also having a big adoption event from 11-2.

If you are already a volunteer with us please come help walk.
