A mother dog and her puppy have an inseparable bond after having a “ruff” start at a Philadelphia animal shelter. Meet Aurora and her puppy Apollo; the two are pictured cuddled up to each other with the following heartwarming description:

We adopted a mother and son combo from the shelter, they are inseparable.

The photo and story had been posted on Reddit by Alan who uses SAVertigo on subreddit. Who hasn’t smiled at the two dogs so peacefully snoozing on the floor together, and now we know they are living their best lives?

Alan explained how his elderly dog had passed away, and the family had expressed an interest in adopting a Labrador retriever. They didn’t however, want to purchase a dog from a breeder since there are so many dogs needing to be adopted, so they decided to rescue one.

According to Newsweek, the family found an adoption listing for Aurora, and a few days later, they saw the adoption listing for her son, Apollo. So both dogs lucked out and were adopted!

After DNA tests were done for both dogs, the new owners discovered Aurora is a Great Pyrenees and husky mix while Apollo has more breeds mixed in, but the bottom line is both dogs are great and definitely love each other.

These two aren’t too bad … they destroy toys like no one’s business, and also blankets but leave furniture alone.

Of course, they have the occasional spat and one might think the two are ready to walk away from each other in rather unpleasant disagreements, but by the end of the evening, they are again cuddled together.

The happy story has garnered lots of upvotes and a ton of positive comments, and we sincerely hope anyone looking to fill their home with a dog or two, visit their nearest animal shelter and adopt a new friend. It is so sad that so many dogs are in shelters, and even more depressing that the most adoptable dogs are being euthanized for space.

Many thanks to SAVertigo for leading the way in such a positive direction.
