At the Mendocino Coast Humane Society, there hadn’t been a more excited dog last week who excitedly wagged her tail and anxiously awaited her new family to arrive to take her home over the weekend. Her bags were packed – toys, brushes, food and snacks all tied up and ready to be carried in one hand, while Pumpkin would be leashed and led out the doors of the shelter with her new person’s other hand: already and so excited to begin her new life of love and adventure.

It had been 304 days in the shelter in Fort Bragg, California. And then her hopeful bubble of joy burst! Her adopter was a no show.

a shelter volunteer has asked to share this sweel soul who was supposed to be adopted yesterday, but the adopter no showed. She has been at the shelter for 304 days.

Her tail, once a hopeful dance, now wags with fading anticipation. This sweet girl dreams of a home for the holidays – a place where she can be your adventure buddy and share all the warmth in her heart.

According to the shelter, Pumpkin is an active, intelligent companion who benefits from regular training and mental stimulation. Her love for treats has already led her to master some impressive tricks during her stay at the shelter.

Pumpkin entered the rescue organization after having been found as a stray, so her previous experiences remain a mystery. However, it’s apparent that she may have had less than positive interactions with other dogs, displaying fear-based reactivity. Yet, she gets along splendidly with friendly, easy-going dogs like her friend Remi, and with a proper introduction, she could make a wonderful housemate.

No doubt Pumpkin loves walks; she has impeccable leash manners. She eagerly retrieves a ball and brings it back! Pumpkin’s ultimate dream is to snuggle up next to her favorite person after a day filled with adventures.

Offer her a confident role model, and she’ll become your most loyal companion. Give Pumpkin a chance to light up your life. Help Pumpkin forget yesterday and look forward to today and tomorrow. Share her plight with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. Follow here.
