Heartbroken family treated beloved dog to cheeseburger before emotional surrender at shelter

This is Queen; the 10-year-old beloved family dog was brought to Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society in New York at the end of last month under unfortunate circumstances.

Queen’s family came to the shelter in urgent need of surrendering her. The apartment building they had been living in changed management, and after ten years of Queen being part of the family, the new building manager would be enforcing the no pet rule. The family was utterly heartbroken, and they spent every moment they could with their dog before asking the rescue organization to help Queen find a new home.

Before Queen’s family dropped her off at the shelter, they bought her a cheeseburger and spent every second with her they could in an effort to do anything to lift Queen’s spirit. They graciously, and emotionally, thanked us for helping take care of her during this painful transition.

We all know our dogs, and most of us can just look in their eyes and know how they are feeling; their loyalty and love is unwavering.

Through the staff’s own tears and strong emotions, they promised to help Queen adjust to the shelter, and promised to do everything to find the sweet dog a loving home. In the meantime, they would do all they could to keep Queen happy and comfortable; you know the doggy drill – treats, toys fluffy blankets and lots of love and attention.

Queen is ready to start the journey to find her FURever home and we are hoping it is a short and sweet one. Queen is such a friendly dog. She loves everyone including: kids, cats, and dogs. We know that there is another perfect family out there to pick up on cherishing Queen where they left off, and we need your help finding them!

Queen is 10 years old, spayed, current on vaccines, and microchipped. Apply here to adopt: https://www.anitas-sshs.org/adopt/apply/Dog
