Urgent call by animal control that 20 dogs were to be put down adopted and placed in new homes

In Clayton County, Georgia, an urgent plea went out on social media from the Clayton County Animal Control stating that 20 dogs had been placed on the urgent list and would have to be euthanized for space.

URGENT PLEA!!!!

THE ANIMALS WITH THE INTAKE NUMBERS LISTED BELOW NEED TO BE ADOPTED OR RESCUED BY 1PM ON THURSDAY AUGUST 25, 2022.

THIS IS A FINAL NOTICE. THE MATTER IS URGENT.

The animals were listed due to the animal’s special needs, the time frame the animal had been at housed at the shelter, or because they had been at greatest risk of possible illness. These animals had been in the facility for a long time.

And then social media came together and help arrived:

Not only were all of the dogs either rescued or adopted from the Urgent List as of 3:45 pm today, we had a total of 17 dogs rescued, 12 dogs adopted, one (1) cat and seven (7) dogs returned to owners for a grand total of 37 animals.

The shelter staff thanked everyone for their help. Unfortunately, they also took in 19 more dogs and another cat in the past two days.
