A very hungry, thirsty and friendly pup is being cared for by the Saratoga County Animal Shelter located in Ballston Spa, New York after he was discovered on Friday tied to a tree in the middle of the woods near Route 9 in Corinth. It has been estimated the poor dog had been there by himself with no means to food or water for two or three days.
It’s heartbreaking to see how the pup pawed at the ground trying to free himself – perhaps he had watched his owner leave and tried desperately to follow?
On Saturday morning, the shelter provided an update to this disturbing incident:
*IMPORTANT UPDATE*
We appreciate everyone’s concern regarding the dog found in Corinth yesterday afternoon. Please know the animal is safe here at the shelter and receiving the care it needs and deserves. As of now, we are NOT taking any names or numbers of interested adopters as there is an active and ongoing investigation in this matter.

Hundreds of comments on the shelter’s Facebook page want the person(s) who abandoned this dog in the middle of the woods, to be found and held responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact the shelter at 518.885.4113.
