Savannah Police Department Officer Lewis went far above his required duties and far under his police vehicle to rescue a truly sweet puppy whose previous owner obviously didn’t care about him.

This is your warning animal lovers. Grab a tissue and get the pet bed and dog bowls ready because you’re going to want to take this sweet baby home.

This afternoon, Officer Lewis had been on duty when this adorable pooch ran under the officer’s vehicle. The officer got out of his car and tried to coax the dog out from under the vehicle by lying face down; – with some patience and some treats, was able to reach “Foxx.”

The dog was wearing a collar, and yes, his name is Foxx, but from all appearances, someone had likely dumped him on the side of the road. By his side, someone had left a dog bed and a bowl full of maggots with a bit of unconsumed food.

Foxx is now at Animal Control and is waiting for a new family to take him home. For more information, please click here.
