In Horizon City, Texas, the video of a young husky was captured by a witness who noticed a dog had been being dragged by a leash along the side of a vehicle while it was moving. Moments later, the vehicle stopped, a man got out of the back passenger side and removed the collar and leash from the dog before getting back into the vehicle and driving away.
On Friday afternoon, a 68-year-old man was arrested in connection with the dog’s abandonment and charged with suspicion of animal cruelty. Luis Antonio Campos was booked in the El Paso County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
According to Abc7News, Campos is accused of being at least one of the two people involved in leaving the husky on the side of a road and leaving. The dog then chases the vehicle after it left him behind.
The dog was rescued by Pawsitive Rescuers of El Paso and adopted through Huckleberry Hound Dog Rescue of El Paso. He has since been adopted and named Nanook.
The video has been viewed more than 875,000 times. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at 915.832.4408 or 915.538.2185.
