In El Paso, Texas, a 31-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after authorities accused him of dumping his dog in the middle of a busy intersection.

According to KviaNews, witnesses stated they saw Manuel Alberto Soto Jr. abandoning his dog last month at Lomita Drive and Eastland Street. One witness said he watched Soto “speed off as the dog chased after the vehicle.”

After chasing the vehicle, the dog returned to the intersection where he was left and whined and waited for her “owner to return.”

Soto faces charges of animal cruelty and abandonment and was jailed pending a $2,000 bond.

There have not been any updates on the dog.
