What would prompt anyone to abuse an elderly beagle found wandering in Frostproof, Florida this week, after having been shot and stabbed? The dog, now dubbed “Max” remains in critical condition as volunteers from Hardee Animal Rescue Team (HART) work to save his life.
According to the organization’s Facebook page, the beagle was found on Tuesday wandering in the area of Otto Polk Road. When found by a Good Samaritan, he cleaned the dog’s wounds and called HART asking for help saving the kindly, elderly dog.
“We rely on donations to help the abused and neglected.Max was found on 12/11/2018 after he wandered up to a house. He has bullet wounds, knife wounds and what looks like a machete wound behind his neck. This is absolute animal cruelty at its worse. Please help us find the person or persons responsible.we don’t want this to happen to another innocent animal,” the organization posted on their social media page.
Max suffered wounds on the top of his neck, a bullet wound to his head and ear, and a huge laceration across his back that appears to have been caused by a machete or a butcher knife. He has already received a blood transfusion and is battling infections caused by the lack of care before he was found.
Check out Max’s video – that tail is happily wagging:
UPDATE:Max has a good appetite is still on IV Fluids strong antibiotics wanted to show all he wags his tail.
