Very adoptable dog isn’t beautiful or young but he wants and deserves to be loved

At the Sumter County Animal Services in Florida, we meet Chester. He’s a proven, wonderful companion, and he just wants a friend to love and to love him. Although he’s not beautiful or young, has some skin tags and lumps, everyone, that is if we are lucky enough, grow old. Why should age preclude having a family?

During the cold snap in Florida, a foster family welcomed Chester into their home for a week. (Yes, that’s more or less the length of a Florida winter) And here are the bullet points – all about Chester to consider if you’re looking to bring a new family member into your home:

  1. He’s sweet loving and grateful.
  2. Low key, calm and easy to care for
  3. Walks well on a loose leash
  4. Both house and crate trained – no anxieties
  5. Knows “come” and is treat motivated
  6. Urinates immediately when taken outside. (that counts)
  7. Champion couch potato and loves soft beds
  8. No issues with bath time
  9. Loves car rides
  10. Rarely barks — only a couple barks when he’s hungry. He is quiet in the crate and overnight.

Have the words of his foster fallen on deaf ears? Are we blind to him? Chester deserves better than a kennel. Please, is there that one person to find it in themselves to give him a better life?

Chester still has a playful spirit when he is rested, so he would enjoy walks. Mostly he soaks up love when it’s offered. He adores being told he’s a good boy, and melts for ear scratches and butt rubs. His tail wags say it all.

He would truly shine as your one and only dog.

He would thrive in a calm adult home that enjoys afternoon strolls and long naps — just like him.

Come meet some of Chester’s friends waiting for families at Sumter County Animal Services. Chester and his friends are ready to go home.
