In a successful rescue endeavor from a chilling and disturbing hoarding situation, three dogs are now able to look forward to a future, thanks to the efforts of Hounds In Pounds, a New Jersey non profit animal rescue.
During a rescue effort on Monday, April 6, the organization was asked to help where dozens of dogs had been living on a North Jersey property in absolute filth. They were starved, neglected and had never been to a veterinarian – even for the most basic of vaccinations.
It had been a makeshift dog breeding facility where the female dogs were required to produce litter after litter.
They were hungry; they were lonely and had been deprived of every basic need for survival.

When the volunteers and staff arrived at the property, the pungent odors of urine and feces caused by bacteria, ammonia and uric acid made their eyes water. Unfortunately, that was only a small preview of how the dogs had been made to live behind closed doors.
Several rescues besides Hounds In Pounds arrived to help to help the dozens of dogs living in the horrible conditions.

And there they were; the dogs were found hunched over, terrified and alone. They had no idea if they would see another tomorrow. All they had known was the silent suffering of extreme neglect and greed.
On Monday afternoon, their stories changed. Three lives are now safe; finally out of the darkness they’ve known for far too long. Their healing starts now, and their future is finally something worth looking toward.
