In Hershey, Pennsylvania, the parents of a toddler are facing charges after an incident at Hershey Park’s ZooAmerica.

According to police, Carrie Sortor, 43 and Stephen Wilson, 61, face charges of endangering the welfare of their child. The couple’s 17-month-old toddler had been about 25 50 30 feet away from her parents who appeared, at the time, to be on their phones.

And we should know how a split second, not paying attention to a child’s whereabouts in a strange environment, can become dangerous. In this scary case, this child squeezed through a small opening in the wooden perimeter fence and was able to reach through the fence enclosure. It was then when a wolf grabbed the child’s hand with its mouth.

Several bystanders immediately intervened and pulled the child to safety.

Fortunately the toddler only suffered minor injuries.
