On Monday night, the City of Erie Police contacted ANNA Animal Shelter in Erie, Pennsylvania, about a dog found in a crate under a bridge. Authorities were unsure if the dog, who appeared to have been frozen, was even still alive.

Immediately, staff members from the shelter arrived at the location and confirmed the dog was still alive but nonresponsive. The rescuers were given immediate triage directions, and special arrangements were already being made with Dr. Lyon, the shelter’s partnering veterinarian.

Additional members of the rescue’s cruelty team arrived to assist with the dog’s care. At the time of her arrival, the six-month-old red Siberian Husky’s temperature was 94 degrees and her heart rate an alarming 46 BPM. She had been covered in feces, was frostbitten on her four paws and smelled of urine.
She is literally a rack of bones weighing just 15.2 pounds.
Fortunately, after three-and-a-half-hours of warm blankets, IV fluids, vitamin injections, Karo syrup/AD food slurries, gentle blow drying and vigorous petting, the puppy began stretching her legs and trying to lift her head.

Her body temperature has slowly been rising and her heart rate has been increasing. Although the staff is hopeful she will survive, she is far from out of the woods. She is scheduled to be transferred to the ANNA Wellness Center West where she will be monitored by Dr. Zeigler and her staff.
Erie Police and the rescue organization’s Cruelty Team will be pursuing this case and working to get justice for Aimee. She was named after the EDP dispatcher who took the original call about the puppy.

Everyone there and here was affected by this poor girl and are pulling for her …
