A four-year-old handsome German shepherd has been marked as Coachella Valley Shelter’s longest resident. He arrived in May – and has been there more than 220+ days in the shelter. He loves everyone and loves attention the attention from the staff and volunteers, he just doesn’t want to return to his kennel when his playtime is over.

Sometimes dogs just don’t get the social media exposure they need to find their person. Sadly, more German shepherds are being surrendered and abandoned; shelters are full of these loyal dogs. No doubt, this is extremely heartbreaking.

When this boy arrived (names referred to him as King, Chip and Oliver) seven months ago A1860314, he presented with a lick granuloma on the front left carpus – swelling, a small wound on the lateral aspect of the right stifle and a small abrasion to the rostral aspect of his nose. Most likely he had spent a lot of time outdoors and had fly strikes with alopecia AU. He was treated with medication.

(Found on May 29 as a stray – 50200 Block Calle Tolosa, Coachella, Ca)
King so wants to be home. Check out his brief, heartbreaking video as he tries his best not to go back into his kennel.

Oh please no!
Animal ID: #A1860314
Neutered male
Tan and black
German shepherd
Age – four years old and weight 75 pounds
he’s been kenneled alone due to his medical injury. He has successfully gone on doggie day outs. Shelter is not always helpful with dog to dog testing and when they are, it’s not always accurate in a kennel environment.
