Meet Eeyore; the four-legged 100-pound rescue dog who lives in Destin, Florida and is a full-fledged tail-wagging hero. Just six-months ago, he led an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy to his injured 86-year-old owner.
The woman had fallen on a golf course while walking Eeyore and needed medical help. Meanwhile, after having failed to return from her walk with her daughter’s dog, the woman’s husband got worried and called for help.

Deputy Devon Miller arrived and quickly began her search in the direction of where the woman had walked. Within minutes, Eeyore flagged down Deputy Devon Miller and led her to the woman.

And that’s exactly what Eeyore did; he led the deputy to his injured person. Maybe not surprised when the deputy arrived, the woman asked if the dog had led her to her? The woman told the deputy Eeyore kept looking for help, but would keep returning.

Eeyore is the daughter’s dog, and oh my, but there’s not a doubt in our minds that Grandma loves him, and he is a hero.

And then Eeyore was honored a few weeks later:

“A few weeks ago, we shared the incredible story of Eeyore, the four-legged lifesaver who helped rescue his injured family member in Destin. We’re proud to see Eeyore officially honored by Sheriff Eric Eden and the @OkaloosaSheriff‘s Office for his bravery.
This week, Eeyore received the OCSO Community Service Award, and the Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners joined in with a proclamation recognizing both Eeyore and Deputy Miller.
From once being on a euthanasia list to becoming a local legend, Eeyore’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. We’re thrilled to see him get the spotlight he deserves!”
