A viral video of a man appearing to be abusing a small black and white dachshund dog in Waterbury, Connecticut is currently under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department. The dog has since been rescued and is expected to make a full recovery.

According to authorities, the video circulated online late last week, and showed a male striking the dog repeatedly. An eyewitness reported the dog had been punched and then dragged down the street.

The dachshund, named Lola, suffered minor injuries and is in the care of the local shelter where she is reported to be happy and healing.

No information has been released how authorities were able to locate the dog, as that remains part of the investigation. Detectives are still looking for the man in the video.

Sgt. Joseph Morais from the Waterbury Police Department stated:

I spoke to our animal control officers, and they say that the dog is happy and healthy and faring very well and is in very high spirits.

Lola is not available at this time for adoption, but there are so many dogs just like Lola who would love if future adopters would just give them a chance. Maybe they can say – “Lola sent me.”
