Eight years of loyalty, but not one family member cared enough about the welfare of Sherry, a senior Shar-pei, whose lifelong human companion recently passed away. Instead of embracing her and helping her to cope with her loss, the family surrendered her to the Humane Society of Washington County in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Sherry has lost her entire world.
This is what we know about Sherry:
Sherry was surrendered by a caregiver after her person’s passing. She is confused and seeks out the comfort of a soft place to sleep with a gently hand reassuring her that she will be cared for and loved.

According to shelter personnel, Sherry leans into people and loves being gently scratched along her back, especially since it has been reported her skin is dry and quite itchy.
After being examined by the veterinarian, she has been diagnosed with ear infections, dry and inflamed skin, partial vision loss and in need of dental work. She also is overweight and would greatly benefit with some tender loving care to help her feel stronger – both physically and emotionally.
Despite her discomfort, Sherry remains incredibly sweet and patient with everyone she meets. She truly deserves a chance to heal and be loved again. A treatment plan is already in place, and a full medical summary is available upon request.
Sherry would thrive in a rescue or foster home that can provide her with consistent care, skin and ear treatment, and the love she’s missing so deeply.
Please make her Christmas happy and safe.
