Onyx has been a resident at the Animal Charity of Ohio Humane Society in Mahoning County since July 2018. No, it’s not a typo – Onyx is the longest resident pup in Northeast Ohio to need a home of his own.

Let’s start here for Onyx:

Characteristics: Loyal, Smart, Brave, Curious, Independent, Dignified, , Athletic

Coat length: Short

Health Vaccinations: up to date, spayed / neutered.

Good in a home with Children.

Prefers a home without: Other dogs, cats.

Meet Onyx

“Onyx, the big and beautiful guy. He would love a home with someone that understands his needs. He truly is a gentle giant. He loves to go on hikes and especially loves butt scratches! He can be very vocal at times, but it is simply to announce his presence!”

Onyx and Sir Yacht, a popular musical artist and social media influencer, have a special bond. Sir Yacht makes the round trip three-hour drive to spend time with Onyx and to help him find his forever home. When at the shelter, the two spend hours together to play and go on fun adventures.

Onyx is nine-years-old and has been at the shelter for seven years. Here are just some of the words describing this adorable boy:

Loving

Loyal

Silly

Snuggly

Full of personality.

He zooms, he plays, and once he settles in for a rest, he melts into you for cuddles. He’s quite treat motivated which means – Onyx is always ready to learn and please.

Could you be the right fit?

Onyx needs a strong and experienced handler. He will do best in a calm and stable home, and he does need to be the only pet. Sir Yacht has stated he would love to adopt Onyx, but his heavy travel schedule isn’t the right fit for this awesome pup.

Please share this boy’s story with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives and brings best canine-human friends together.
