In the town of Franklin, Pennsylvania, a mother raccoon shows the tenacity of a mom protecting her young after her baby nearly fell from the rooftop of a two story home.

Video footage from earlier in May showed a mother desperately hanging onto her tiny baby as it dangled precariously off of a home. The mother is seen hanging upside down holding on to the eave of the home and using her other arm to grab her offspring by the scruff of its neck. If the baby fell, it surely would have not survived, and no doubt momma understood the consequences if she let go.
The entire breathtaking situation was witnessed by Hannan Glancy who had been making a DoorDash delivery when she spotted the amazing rescue mom hero:
she’s not going to make it. move him up. She’s going to drop him…
And when it seems as if the mom is going to lose her grip from the baby’s neck, she grabs onto him with her left paw and hoisted him safely up to the roof.
And just in case anyone doubts a mom’s true grit, just watch her.
Check out the video:
Raccoons normally have their babies (kits) in the spring between March and April with a litter of between two and seven. The females are solely responsible for raising the young; the babies stay with their mothers for about a year.
