At the ACCT Philly, Tank may never see tomorrow. This friendly, housebroken, crate-trained and polite pup was returned to the shelter on June 4 as a stray after having been adopted. His family never returned for him.

There is no doubt that Tank is a sweet, medium energy kind of guy who has been making steady behavioral progress. Although his advocates do admit he can be a bit strong and excitable when he’s released from his kennel, but he warms up quickly and loves people. You can catch him leaning into the closest volunteer for attention, turning over on his back for some belly rubs and politely accepting treats.

Tank knows his basic commands – sit, come and wait.
In playgroup, Tank has shown playful interest in other dogs, although he can be overly mounty and doesn’t always respond to corrections, suggesting he’d benefit from continued socialization with other dogs.
He loves games like fetch and tug of war, knows “sit,” and is food motivated and eager to engage.
Tank will do best in a home where children are over the age of 12, so please bring all members of your household as well as any resident dogs along for a meet. Tank is already neutered and is ready to get out of the shelter. Due to his length of stay, Tank is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, foster, or adopter.

Tank must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by 10AM SATURDAY, JUNE 21.
Euthanasia can occur before the timestamp, and extensions are unlikely to be granted, so it is imperative to let the shelter know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal, email [email protected].
For applications and all available dogs visit the shelter website at www.acctphilly.org.
If you want to foster through a rescue partner, please email [email protected] and tell them you’d like to foster through a rescue, give your experience and contact info and ask that the info be sent to the rescues who may be looking for an experienced foster.
If you submitted a foster app, email [email protected] for an update.
If you want to adopt, you must go in person with any resident dogs. You might want to check first to confirm the dog is available for adoption meet and greet. Due to the high volume at the only open intake shelter in Philadelphia, completing the adoption app online helps to speed up the process but adoptions are done in person only.

I wish I could adopt Tank but I am in Washington state and don’t know anyone in Pennsylvania. I am praying that someone local will adopt this amazing dog!!!
Any pupdates???
If I was local, Tank would be at my house chilling out. I really wish I could adopt him and transport him to me in Washington state………. It’s killing me that I can’t help him from across the country……….
Any pupdates???
Tank is totally welcome to join our pack of rescues in Washington state. We need a plan to get him out west though……..
I am hoping that Tank was rescued or adopted. He’s not listed in the shelter’s “available dogs” anywhere but his adoption profile is still listed……..
Does anyone have any information about Tank (my husband and I have talked and we would LOVE to adopt him)…….. even though we are in Washington state, there must be a way to get him out west…….
