In Maui County, Hawaii, at the Maui Humane Society, at least 20 dogs are at risk of being humanely euthanized by the end of the month if they are not adopted or transferred to other approved rescue organizations
According to the organization’s Facebook page and public announcement, the shelter is taking steps to save as many lives as possible.

our shelter population has exceeded what is safe and sustainable. When we exceed that threshold, animals suffer.
Along with overcrowding at animal shelters, healthy animals can become ill while some become more stressed having to handle overcrowded conditions. Earlier in the year, when faced with similar overcrowding, the public was able to intervene and save lives, and now the public is needed to help again.

…take in dogs facing medical or behavioral challenges.
Being able to get the dogs adopted or transferred to other animal welfare organizations are the only ways the pets can be saved from euthanasia.
