Four month old puppy that survived attack arrived at shelter in laundry basket ready to begin new life

At Carolina Rescue & Adoption, a small, very frightened little pup arrived at the shelter last month with a wide host of serious injuries. He sat very still in the laundry basket a Good Samaritan had placed him in while transporting him to the rescue organization.

When he arrived, his most obvious injury had been his eyeball pushed out of its socket; his condition was alarming and critical. And despite his pain, the puppy didn’t cry out, but instead gave tiny kisses to the volunteers who waited for the emergency veterinarians to tend to his injuries.

His name is Pluto, and according to the veterinarian staff, the four month old puppy had been attacked by a large animal. He suffered huge puncture wounds around his eye socket and over the rest of his body. He had previous scarring on his back from what appeared to have been a burn, and he was very underweight. No puppy should have had to suffer from this kind of pain and cruelty at such a young age.

It remains a mystery how Pluto had been spotted wandering a local street, but a Good Samaritan had rushed to his rescue. And now the terrible experiences of the puppy’s past have slowly disappeared.

So now let’s fast forward and Pluto has recovered and is ready to find his forever home. Sadly, he did have to have his one eye removed, but he has adapted to his good eye and has no trouble being a playful and energetic puppy.

The shelter describes him as quite the shining star:

He loves dogs, LOVES humans, and respects cats. He is staying surprisingly small and we don’t expect him to get much bigger at all!

He is working on his house training. Recently his senior foster sister became very ill, and all he wanted to do was watch her to ensure she was going to be okay.

We just can’t express how sweet tempered and deserving of a good home he is!

Please share Pluto’s story with friends, family and social media contacts. He’s just perfect!
