She scavenged for food along the worst streets of East Los Angeles. No one paid attention to her; she was yesterday’s dog. Maybe at one time she had an owner, and maybe at one time, someone cared about her; those days were long gone.

Now she ate trash off the streets and slept on the stairs by the East Los Angeles Metro Station. She was covered in mange, her body so sore and itchy; the raw skin hurt so much. And now to add to the complications of life, she was pregnant.
Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, had been coordinating with her colleagues to capture the dog. They had all seen her, but she remained very elusive. Soft hearted passersby reported her asking for someone to help. Who could blame her? No one seemed to have wanted her around, and very few extended a helping hand.

Arturo Flores arrived at night and tried to lure her to the humane trap, but the dog disappeared. Her usual path would be to stroll by a Jack in the Box fast food restaurant across from the metro, but this morning she was nowhere to be found. Suzette was frustrated, but she wasn’t giving up. This dog had suffered enough.
Suddenly there she was walking so slow, exhausted and hungry.
This baby walked miles , in fact I clocked 2.6 miles and then right back again.
Bright pink from her mange, so tired
Hall’s humane trap was ready, but each time the dog would approach the trap as if ready to enter, a person would walk by and scare her away. Then she would cross the street – so many times nearly getting struck by a car.
And again she disappeared.
Hours went by, her rescuers looked for her everywhere. Suzette decided to drive back by the Jack in the Box one more time, and there she was!

I saw her turn down a street and I could tell she had gone into a yard
I quickly got my gates out and blocked off the yard
There she was. the owner of the house was so helpful.
The dog had been hiding behind a car. There was no doubt she was ready to stop walking, stop being hungry and stop being chased. She walked into the trap, and within a minute or so, curled up and fell asleep. She knew she was finally safe.
