On Thursday, May 22, officers from the Detroit Police Department initially encountered a very sad situation. While the officers had been investigating a stolen car incident, they discovered several deceased dogs that had been left in an abandoned garage.
Although heartbroken officers could not help the dogs in the garage, they grew more concerned.
The officers then went into the vacant house, and within moments, there he was; one incredibly lucky survivor. There he was; a severely emaciated young dog staring up at his rescuers. He wagged his tail, and with not a shadow of a doubt, his exuberance at finally being rescued showed in his dancing eyes and grateful kisses.

Fortunately, the officers called the non profit rescue, Detroit Pit Crew for help.

Stetson certainly would have died if no one had discovered him and we are so thankful for the evidence technician and the officers that were there to help this poor boy make it to safety.
On a side note… despite what Stetson has been through he is still incredibly friendly and loving. He is another example of how amazing and resilient rescued dogs are. Soon the heartbreak that he has experienced will be a distant memory.

Better days are ahead for this incredibly sweet guy.
