At the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund in Kentucky, whose motto is “saving lives one paw at a time,” shared their joy and enthusiasm for a New Year featuring a dog named “Hope.”

It had been a Good Samaritan who reached out to the rescue organization in August concerning a dog that had been chained to a tree for nine years. All that time she lived her life in a dog house that had no floor or door. Only a blanket draped casually over the opening had been meant to keep out the extreme heat or the deathly cold conditions. No one ever came to visit her except to toss food on the ground; the same stagnant, green water in her bowl was all that was left for her to drink.

Ashland Animal Rescue Fund promised Hope her life would get better even though they were beyond capacity with dogs in their care. Who could leave Hope chained to that tree?

Within the first 24 hours of her rescue, the staff, the community and a host of volunteers donated to her care. People sent her toys, treats, food, bedding, blankets, joint supplements and monetary donations for her much needed veterinary care. Hope was finally receiving the care and love she so deserved.

Hope has been in a home with foster family since September 7. She wasted no time becoming a member of the family; both humans and the other dogs alike. Her favorite part of the day is to be loved and touched; her family happily obliges.
