Meet Garcia; this sweet five-month-old puppy was found as a stray in Philadelphia in absolutely horrific condition. Emaciated, unable to stand, and so weak every bone in his body was visible. No puppy should ever have had to endure such a lousy beginning to life!

Outcast Rescue, based in Pennsylvania, explained the puppy had been found on Wednesday in Philadelphia emaciated, dehydrated and with a severe cough. He also suffered from an ulcerated eye infection.

Garcia was transferred the same afternoon to Crown Veterinary Specialists, where he received emergency care. When he arrived, the puppy was severely dehydrated, needed plasma, and had developed a wet cough. Thankfully, X-rays showed no pneumonia. He was administered two blood transfusions the next day.

Yes it is hard to watch. To see a baby in this condition, to hear the way he is breathing. Garcia is fighting, and we are going to fight right along with him. Today he needed a blood transfusion and the costs are mounting very quickly

As Garcia’s veterinarian bills continued to increase, the rescue wanted to make sure their followers understood that as long as the puppy wanted to keep fighting for his life, they would be there to support him. Little signs of progress could be seen when the puppy started to eat, and after one of his transfusions, he was able to lift his head.

Although he was far from out of the woods at that time, veterinarians had remained candid and honest and open if they thought that continuing his care was the right option.

And now after one week, today Garcia left the hospital and headed to an experienced foster home close should he need to return. According to his rescuers, he is one determined little pup, and he had no problem telling everyone exactly how he was feeling.

He even stood and did his business when we arrived at his foster’s house. He quickly curled up as soon as he got there and went to sleep. Exciting adventure and also exhausting for him at the same time. So now he rests, saves his calories and continues to move forward.

The rescue has created a small wish list of items for him that can be sent directly to his foster home. Here is the link:

Barkley’s Marketplace -in Flemington NJ has also generously offered to deliver anything purchased from their store if you call to send him something.

Outcast Rescue wants to thank everyone for the support and the donations to help cover his medical expenses. The communities really stepped up and rescuers are very grateful to you all.

Please know they will not be accepting adoption applications for him at this time. We know some are excited to apply but he is not there yet. It will be some time.
