A dog being dragged down Bradwall Street in Luling by a woman driving a gray vehicle on October 7 was rescued, thanks to Good Samaritans. The driver of the vehicle, Tammy Veillon, stopped her vehicle after a witness and bystander were able to get her attention. The dog was untied, freed and then brought to safety.

Veillon, 51, was arrested by deputies from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center. She has been charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and had been held without bond until she appeared before a judge.

At the St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter, the puppy arrived in critical condition. The first 24 hours were most critical for survival, and as she started to improve, she began to eat. Veterinarian staff had been handfeeding her chicken – much to her delight!

The staff continues her medical care with acupuncture and laser therapy thanks to a generous veterinarian, Dr. G owner of VetNaturally Animal Hospital. The vet has donated her services to the shelter before.
Laser therapy, acupuncture, Chinese salve & essential oils are all Eastern medicine options, which we pull in for extreme cases.
The puppy, still unnamed, but that’s coming soon, was relaxed and did well on her long drive to Mandeville. When she returned to the shelter, she had many gifts awaiting her sniff approval – from near and far. She received new blankets, a heart beat warm puppy, chicken, rice and so much more.

The little patient was hungry – ate her dinner and then fell fast asleep.

Updates to follow. Can’t wait until this adorable little on has a name. In the meantime, check out her photos.
