On the morning of December 3, it was 26 degrees in St. Louis. Winter came early this year, and for days the temperatures had dipped well below freezing; no place to be for any pets outdoors, but then there are the unfortunate strays and unwanted. They search for food and warmth; when the stars align perfectly, they become the lucky ones; these are the abandoned ones who are rescued.

That very cold morning had been different for this gal. Donna from Stray Rescue of St. Louis had been notified about the
dog and off she went to help. And look who they found; they named her Comfy Cozy, and she had no idea someone was really coming to help her.
Comfy Cozy looked up at Donna, but not with much interest. Surely the dog thought the woman was just another human passing her by, and preparing to push her away from the stoop that had been protecting her from the freezing winds.
But wait! The woman began to talk to her, and asked Comfy Cozy if she was ready to leave the porch and get into the Jeep where it was warm? The dog wagged her tail; she could sense someone wanting to help her.

She was so confused. Wait, you’re here for …me? Yes, we are here for you. You matter, you are beautiful, you deserve a family and a couch and toys and treats and a Christmas sweater.
That was then, and this is now.
As Comfy Cozy began to realize she is wanted and her life is valuable, she started to cuddle with the staff. And that’s when everyone discovered, this two-year-old sweet mixed breed of adorableness has those huge ears which seem to have a personality of their own!

Comfy Cozy remains at the Stray Rescue of St Louis. She needs a warm safe loving foster who will be patient and let her decompress. One foster had her less than 24 hours, and she had a bathroom accident. She’s so very frightened, but surely she will do better with patience and love.

She’s two years old and about 53 lbs.
