Tina is a sweet, shy pup who is barely three months old, and already she has been placed on the “urgent” list. The puppy entered the Miami-Dade Animal Shelter on October 3, and her skin condition left her scratching uncontrollably as her coat continued to fall out.
According to the shelter’s veterinarian diagnosis, Tina suffers from Scabies –
Scabies. (Intense itching, Redness, inflammation, and desquamation (unintended damage to and loss ofthe upper layer of skin), Hair loss)
For anyone wanting to help Tina, this sweet puppy does qualify for a special program offering new owners and/or rescue organizations with additional financial help treating the dog at a licensed veterinarian facility:
Category D1 of the SUN Program in Miami-Dade County requires that a pet owner:
- Get veterinary care for the pet’s condition within seven days of receiving it
- Provide progress updates on the pet’s medical treatment if requested by the Animal Services Department (ASD)
- Provide proof of veterinary care to the ASD
