In Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the Humane Society of Huron Valley a senior pup so adorably friendly and cuddly, had mastered all the secret moves of Houdini. According to the shelter, Tiki, the 10-year-old street dog arrived at the shelter as a stray, and enjoyed exploring the streets on his own terms.

According to MLive.com, the first time Tiki made a successful escape he had been in a crate in a room, and the room had been locked. Yep, he got out! He walked around the office and parking lot until a veterinarian spotted him the next morning. And even as the shelter double checked everything to mitigate anymore escape maneuvers, no one told Tiki. Just a few days later, Tiki was at it again.
HOUDINIED OUT OF HIS CRATE, OPENED THE LOCKED DOOR IN THE OFFICE WHERE HE WAS HOUSED, AND CASUALLY WALKED OUT OUR FRONT DOOR EARLY IN THE MORNING!
It had not been long once Tiki’s amazing escapades made headline news around social media, when a family adopted him. Sadly, they returned Tiki to the shelter after a few days because of the dog’s separation anxiety. In order to better meet Tiki’s needs, it is advised he be the only pet in the home, and there should be no small children around who could make him nervous.
Tiki’s great escapes weren’t just for show. They highlight his deep need for 24/7 human companionship. This nearly 10-year-old gentleman is seeking a forever human who can be home A LOT, offering him the constant love and reassurance he craves. We think Tiki would be a perfect match for someone in their golden years, looking for a devoted friend to share their days with
There is no doubt Tiki is a great dog; he loves to be around people, and maybe a stay-at-home mom and dad would be the best scenario for this extra special pup.
