In Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the Humane Society of Huron Valley a senior pup so adorably friendly and cuddly, seems to have mastered all the secret moves of Houdini. According to the shelter, Tiki, the 10-year-old street dog arrived at the shelter as a stray, and he still enjoys exploring the streets.
According to MLive.com, the first time Tiki made a successful escape he had been in a crate in a room, and the room had been locked. Yep, he got out! He walked around the office and parking lot until a veterinarian spotted him the next morning.

So to avoid a repeat of Tiki’s Houdini act, the staff housed him in a more secure crate; they even put a lock on the door, and Tiki escaped again. Round 2!
Never believe a dog can’t outwit his human friends. Just a few days ago, Tiki was at it again. The rescue organization posted the following:
Houdinied out of his crate, opened the locked door in the office where he was housed, and casually walked out our front door early in the morning!
(Follow up: We got him back safely with help of the good folks at Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum got another lock…
The staff is still not sure how Tiki escaped, but everyone thinks he just doesn’t like being alone and wanted the company of the humans he loves. That’s one smart pup!
Check out the video – there he goes!
And for the best part of this amusing tale, which includes as much mystery as how Houdini managed to escape so many times, Tiki has been adopted! Thanks to the “Empty the Shelter” event, his new family has fallen in love with him.
The “Empty the Shelter” adoption marathon continues until the end of the month. Dogs and cats available for adoption are just waiting for you. The adoption fee is $50.00. Why shop when you can adopt?
