Sonoma County, California’s Dogwood Animal Rescue is celebrating a furry success story this week. A Great Dane puppy, only eight-months-old, in terrible condition, was brought to the shelter and immediately received the care he desperately needed. The team at Dogwood Animal Rescue, known for their dedication to animal welfare, went above and beyond to nurse Ryder back to health.

A Fight for Survival

Details surrounding Ryder’s initial condition are still emerging, but reports indicate he was malnourished and suffering from neglect. Dogwood Animal Rescue staff wasted no time in providing the puppy named Ryder with the medical attention and TLC it needed.

This Great Dane puppy was found abandoned, suffering from mange and malnutrition, along with hopelessness and fear. Life hasn’t been kind to him and he takes no comfort in human touch, but we’re looking forward to showing him how good it can be. He’s already seeking attention and his appetite is great. He’s already started treatment for mange and we will be on a careful refeeding program.
