The SPCA Westchester has been caring for a three-year-old dog after his owner nearly starved the dog to death. According to the non-profit animal advocacy and protection organization, Akeem Grant, 33, of Mount Vernon was arrested by the SPCA Humane Law Enforcement Unit.

The dog, named Stryker was 30 pounds underweight and severely neglected when found. Striker is currently in the care of the Westchester Humane Society located in New Rochelle.

Many thanks to the work of the Officer Brie Mecca from the Mount Vernon Police Department who helped the SPCA investigate the disturbing discovery of the starving Stryker.

Updates on Stryker to follow.
