In Skiatook, Oklahoma, “Hope” has given up. At the Skiatook Paws & Claws Animal Rescue, Hope is one of the longest term boarding dogs. She had been rescued July 2022 from a cruelty case after she was found abandoned at a home, stuck in a crate with another dog. They were skeletons pups – starved and covered in each other’s urine and feces.

Hope needs a special kind of home, and at the last adoption event, Hope seemed to know no one would choose her to take home. Her head was tucked, and she hadn’t moved most of the day. One of the volunteers called her name several times, and Hope didn’t even bother to look up. It seems as if she has completely given up.

She has been in a foster home, a trial adoptive home, and adopted once. She’s been in boarding with us otherwise. She has started dog fights in ALL environments – she will NOT be placed in a home with other animals under any circumstance. This cannot be deemed a safe decision for her or other pets in the household. We appreciate all the love for her and I know people want to believe she can acclimate in a home with others but please believe us when we want to set her up for success.

Hope is looking to be the ONLY pet in the household.

Sadly, Hope is a classic example of animal cruelty, neglect and the lack of sterilizing pets. Everyone wants the rescues to save these dogs, but once they are here and in boarding facilities, the public deems them safe. Too many dogs wind up in the same difficult predicament as Hope.

Boarding situations wear on dogs like Hope who have special needs. No one ever chooses Hope. Is it because she is not fluffy or cute? Is it because Hope is a pitty type; you know one of those dogs with big heads and thick bodies. The truth is however – Hope may have scars from her past, but she has a lot to offer a family; someone looking for a single dog. She is a love and just needs the right home where she can flourish and live happily ever after.

Hopes mental state is plummeting. She needs a home, and quickly.

Her adoption fee is waived. She is chipped spayed vaccinated and on simparica trio.
