At a local California shelter, a rescuer who often accompanies Suzette Hall with Logan’s Legacy29, had been picking up another dog when she spotted 17-year-old Hazel being surrendered by her owner. Hazel had been with the same family since she was only three-weeks-old, and suddenly she was no longer wanted.

…walked her in at 17 years old & walked out. said it was financial and moving

Had Hazel remained at the shelter, she most likely would have been humanely euthanized; the first thing Yvonne noticed were Hazel’s paws which were red and swollen from having stood in her own urine. Yvonne quickly notified Suzette the dog wasn’t feeling well, and off they went to Camino Pet Hospital. Everyone, including the dog’s veterinarian was shocked, after an x-ray revealed Hazel had a bladder stone larger than anyone had ever seen. She needed surgery immediately.

She has a huge Bladder Stone as big as the Drs’ fist. The first option is surgery which will save her life or 2nd option is to be humanely euthanized which is not an option at all because she has a fighting chance. Let’s give her that so she can live a happy healthy in her golden years

And although the rescue had to raise nearly $3,000 for the dog’s surgery and her subsequent recovery costs, they took a leap of faith. Hazel had her surgery on Wednesday afternoon. Thus far, surgery was a success and Hazel is definitely feeling better. The surgeon’s report included the following update:

He also said that this obviously did not happen over night and that she’s had this for a very long time. She was definitely neglected & very uncomfortable.

  1. OMGosh! WHAT AN ANGEL!!! HAZEL!!! Can’t say what I think about the POS owners who did this. They had her from 3 weeks old then abandon her in pain with a bladder stone larger than the vet had ever seen?! Please READ/WATCH and do what you can.
