In Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Ella had been at The Animal Resource Center for seven years; just waiting for her forever home. In a surprise encounter, with her amazing story told on Facebook, Ella found her new human during an “extremely special adoption meant to be.”
Back in July, Ella had been one of the favorites on social media. Her smile warmed hearts, but no one came to take her home.
Because the right family and home hasn’t come along yet.
AND THAT’S OKAY! Our shelter isn’t a home but we can ensure that Ella gets the exercise, nutrition, support and comforts she needs to be healthy, happy and ADOPTABLE.
Ella has been adopted and returned twice during her time with us. Both times, her owners were forced to move and couldn’t have pets in their new living situations. Ella has had a few applications over the years and a handful of showings. Any one of our staff, half our board members and a handful of volunteers would LOVE to take her home – if their home, family and lifestyle was a right fit for Ella.

So let’s get started with Ella’s amazing story. About a week ago, the shelter manager had received an email with the subject line “Interested in Ella.” The email had been from a woman named Kaitlyn, who arrived at the shelter a few days later, telling the staff she had lost her heart dog named Jo, a few months ago, but now was ready to adopt and love another dog.

As it turns out, Kaitlyn and Ella had an immediate connection. Now we must tell everyone that Ella has some fear aggression and needs to get used to a visitor before she feels comfortable, but this time it was different. Ella went over to Kaitlyn without an inch of hesitation and sat right next to her, eager to enjoy the pets and scratches.
So why were Kaitlyn’ eyes welling up in tears towards the end of the introduction experience with Ella? Kaitlyn kept staring at Ella’s neck, and it was soon to be revealed – oh my gosh!
