A woman in Kingman, Arizona died after having been attacked by an elk outside of her home on Tuesday. The Arizona Game and Fish Department officials stated the woman passed away eight days after being trampled by the elk.

The tragic incident occurred in the Pine Lake community while the woman’s husband was away. When the husband returned home, he found his wife on the ground with injuries consistent with having been trampled on; a bucket of spilled corn was found next to her.

The woman was transported to the hospital, and on November 3, the Kingman Police Department confirmed the woman had died. Residents of the community were told of the unfortunate incident and warned not to approach or feed elk. Elk tracks were found in the yard.

This is believed to be the first deadly elk attack in the state.

the public is urged to help keep wildlife wild. Wildlife that are fed by people or that get food sources from items such as unsecured garbage of pet food, lose their natural fear of humans and become dependent on unnatural food sources. Feeding puts at risk the person doing the feeding, their neighbors and the wildlife itself. please do not feed wildlife.
