The Humane Society of Monroe County in Michigan has been caring for a two-year-old female dog who had been abandoned less than two months ago. A video of the heartbreaking action was caught on a Ring doorbell camera on June 28, and showed how the unidentified man tied the dog to a pole outside of the Humane Society about 1:00 a.m. that morning.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office press release, the public’s help identifying the man is needed. The surveillance footage showed the man tie the dog to a sign post and then casually walk away without the dog. The dog was found early the next morning when the staff arrived at work.

The dog, who has since been treated by a veterinarian, was found to still be lactating; she exhibited scratches along her mammary chain, which is an indication that puppies may have been recently nursing from her.

She has since been named Mandy by the staff at the Humane Society. The staff described Mandy as anxious and exhibiting symptoms of separation anxiety. Mandy has since been moved to a temporary foster home.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who may know the identity of the man as shown on surveillance footage, or the identity of the owner is asked to call Deputy Skyler Riffle at 734-240-7724.

Check out the heartbreaking video. Mandy was lucky; who knows what could have happened to this dog?
