At the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford, Connecticut, just five days ago an abandoned elderly dog was found by a dumpster along Route 1. The senior pup was scared, shaking, lost and afraid. When the staff from the shelter arrived, he didn’t want to go with them or get into the car.
In an open letter to the owner, a post on the organization’s Facebook page described the dog’s emotional pain; shortly after he arrived and frantically scratched at the front door to be free so he could find his “human.”
how is he doing now you ask? Not well. he doesn’t want to eat or drink. he doesn’t want to leave this spot you see him in. he growls at staff out of fear. he trembles in his kennel as if it is unknown to him.

And while the post addressed sometimes “things” happen in the lives of people that force changes, but deserting a pet at a dumpster at any time is unforgiveable. What if the dog had been so scared he attacked someone or ran out into the street and caused an accident? What if the dog was hit by a car or caused multiple traffic tie ups running up and down the highway?
The shelter staff has named him Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry). Sadly, it doesn’t seem as if his human cared too much – other why wouldn’t he have made sure Harry was neutered? Why wouldn’t he at least have trimmed Harry’s overgrown nails?
While we have to assume that you really don’t care, we do. We will softly talk to him everyday until he loves us. We will hand feed him everyday until he eats. We will take him to the vet since you never bothered to neuter him. we will work tirelessly to gain the trust – you so easily have broken in him. We are sorry Harry, but we love you already.
