In Laguna Hills, California, an older bully breed named Sweetie, finally gets to explore the park and enjoy belly rubs. Thanks to Sal Valdepena’s Balooja’s Foundation, Sweetie has been rescued again, and this time she is receiving the help she needs.

Sweetie’s journey to an easier life will not be easy. She is currently on 11 medications and multiple weekly baths. Once she is feeling better, she will undergo surgery to be spayed, address dental issues, remove a mammary mass, entropion bilateral surgery, possible toe amputation and mass removals from other parts of her body.

Tragically, the former rescue organization where Sweetie had been were unable to give this dog the care she needed. Sadly, this rescue found themselves over their heads in expenses; even more tragic, Sweetie had been one to suffer so needlessly.

Sweetie was rescued by another rescue who I know very well. The person who ran this rescue is a good person who got in way over her head.

I love her, but we can’t let our love for people be a free pass regardless who they are. wrong is wrong and that’s that.

I know this person wouldn’t intentionally hurt a animal, but this should be a reminder for all of us in rescue, taking on too much even with the best intentions will lead to disaster and the animals who trust us are the ones who are hurt.

Sweetie is so special, and maybe because she’s a pit and we all know how they struggle in this world.

Smooth sailing for you now baby girl. People can say what they want, but the quality of care you get will NEVER be questioned.

If you would like to be part of her journey please help.

She’s not available for adoption yet. The rescue does not adopt out sick dogs so please be patient.
