A family from Plainville had been out in their yard playing with their dog late last month when their dog started to growl for seemingly no reason. Tyler Dashukewich said his brother and his girlfriend didn’t know why the dog was acting so strange, but when they peaked down under the deck, there was a huge black bear asleep.

That’s when they began taking the video. Here it is posted on TikTok:

The video clip has garnered nearly 15.9 million views!

You can notice on the video how the bear was nestled among the leave and remained calm as the family made him famous on Tik Tok and lots of other social media formats too.

The family reached out to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, who told them “it was likely a male black bear that can be left alone until hibernation is over.” And the family has no problem with letting the sleeping bear sleep. And for Vincent Dashukewich, Tyler’s brother – he says the bear has been “super chill” and has not really moved much.

In the United States and Canada, bears have been recorded hibernating as long as eight months without drinking water, eating or defecating. As the weather warms up, bears naturally come out of the state of hibernation.

Get your rest black bear. Seems you decided to take a long winter’s nap at the right home. Stay warm.
