At the Potter League for Animals, a call for help placing a unique pup met with lots of interest and lots of curious questions.

Potter League family – we need your help! We would like you to meet Zeus. And if you’re thinking that this majestic dog looks awfully like a wolf hybrid, well, you’re most likely correct. We believe Zeus to be 1/3 German Shepherd, 1/3 Husky, and 1/3 Wolf.

His description included how magically it was just to see the handsome canine walk; as if his movements were mesmerizing and that he looked “just walked out of scene from Twilight.” He loves to be snuggled and is very friendly.

In Rhode Island and surrounding states, it is illegal to own a wolf hybrid. The shelter has submitted a DNA test for Zeus, but it could take weeks to come back, however there has been a lot of interest from prospective hybrid owners.

Zeus does have a medical condition where he is prone to seizures however it is controlled by medication. He has lived with dogs, cats and children most of his life and has lived very comfortably in a home which makes placing him in a sanctuary unsuitable.

New Jersey and Vermont, the states closest to Rhode Island, where wolf-hybrids are permitted to be privately owned viable solutions.

On January 6, the Potter League updated their post stating they had received numerous applications for Zeus and are working to determine the best choice for his future.
