At Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a cardboard box full of tiny puppies was abandoned on their doorstep early Friday morning. Written on the side of the box was “PLEASE HELP US.”

The staff and volunteers at the rescue organization are grateful the person left them at their front door, after the number of so many more dogs have been dumped on busy roads, in trash cans or tied to benches at the park. Some of the areas where dogs have been abandoned, they don’t stand a chance for survival.

If you are in a situation and don’t know what to do, please know there are resources to help you spay/neuter your pets. It’s not an ‘unexpected’ litter if your pets aren’t fixed.

Shelters all over the country are overcrowded. On average 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized annually in the United States. Shelters estimate 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats who enter shelters are eventually killed. Just imagine how easily we could bring down these awful statistics if more people spayed and neutered their pets?

According to the ASPCA, The Humane Society, Best Friends and PetPedia, roughly 6.5 million animals enter shelters every year, however only 3.2 million are adopted. Nearly all (99%) of all shelter animals are healthy enough to be adopted.

Look at these adorable, innocents little victims who are fortunate enough to have been abandoned at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, and they will receive all the help they need and deserve. Please help this fine organization help more unwanted and abandoned pets.
