Early on Monday morning, the Paterson Animal Control in New Jersey received a call reporting that several sheep had been seen wandering the city streets. Officers responded and brought one of the animals to the city’s shelter.

According to UPI, officers located the other sheep and had to use snare poles to capture them. Two were put inside of police cars and another in the truck before taken to the shelter. Then came two more sheep; one found outside of a mattress store (no kidding), another little guy had been trying to enter the Dunkin’ Donuts and the last one had wandered away heading towards Fair Lawn.

The sheep had escaped from a local slaughterhouse, and what a lucky day it was for the seven runaways. Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Wantage stepped up to rescue the adorable little guys and give them permanent homes with the rest of their sheep herd.

Then first thing yesterday morning, I get a call from our old friend @Chief John DeCando that seven sheep had escaped slaughter.

Six were already captured by John, his crew at Paterson Animal Control and the Paterson Police Dept..

We hooked up the trailer and headed out to get them and bring them to sanctuary.

While on the way we got another call.

This time it was Bergen County Animal Control.

They just caught a sheep

That makes all seven, now reunited, and forever safe.

The sheep will be quarantined, vetted and will soon join the other 43 sheep in a nice warm barn.
