In Austin, Texas, a golden retriever named Huckleberry has the city singing, and it’s always not a happy tune, because some people just don’t understand the complex thought pattern of this amicable dog’s penchant for just chilling on the roof of his home.
And while Huckleberry is just lounging on the roof of his home, some people passing by worry about his safety. When the dog’s owner grew rather tired of so many people knocking on her door about the dog, she decided to make a sign and explain Huckleberry’s peculiar resting spot.
Huckleberry is living up to his name and learned how to jump onto our roof from the backyard. We never leave him in the backyard without someone being at home. He will not jump off unless you entice him with food or a ball!
We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on our door – we know he’s up there! But please feel free to take pictures of him and share with the world!!

Before the sign went up, according to the dog’s Instagram account, there were at least four to five people knocking on the door informing the owner of Huck’s whereabouts. Since the sign, that number has decreased to one or two from people who just didn’t notice the sign.
Huckleberry may soon be joined by a new dog adopted into the family named Bluebell.
