Police officers in Lancashire were dispatched to the village of Thornton Cleveleys on Friday where a report of a “large pigeon” was a worrisome sight to neighbors. And as accuracy matters when calling police for assistance, perhaps a big brown dog stranded on the roof of a home would have been a better description?

According to the Twitter account of the Lancs Road Police

Report of a large pigeon on the roof at Wyre this evening, turned out to be a very big dog! Thankfully @LancashireFRS did an amazing job at rescuing the dog. Reunited with owner #T3TacOps

Firefighters from the Lancashire FRS used a ladder to bring the dog to safety where he was reunited with his owner. The dog was not injured, and no one really has figured out how he climbed to the top of the roof.

Definitely the biggest pigeon we’ve ever seen. Good job our firefighters were ready to make a paw-fect rescue.

Just this week, in Austin, Texas, a golden retriever named Huckleberry had the city singing, and it’s always not a happy tune, because some people just don’t understand the complex thought pattern of this amicable dog’s penchant for just chilling on the roof of his home. Read about Huckleberry’s love for sitting on the family’s home roof.
