Meet Oso – a senior pup estimated to be 17-years-old and surrendered to a city shelter in Texas on Thursday after having been tied to the back of the owner’s pickup truck. Anyone could see how depressed Oso already was – his fate was soon to be sealed. According to Oso’s owner, he was surrendered to the shelter because of his advanced age and because the other dogs in the home have been picking on him.
Rescue Dogs Rock NYC had been asked to help, and before the clock struck 6:30, and Oso was slated to take that lonely walk down the hallway to be euthanized, he was rescued. Early Friday morning, the non-profit animal rescue organization posted the happy news on their social media page:
Oso is SAFE with us . That was the first obstacle to accomplish, to stop him from being euthanized yesterday at 6:30. The shelter where his owners brought him do not give any leniency and it is a hard and fast deadline ..Now that we are over that hurdle , next issue is tackling his medical issues and figuring out his true age .

Radiographs taken at the shelter show a mass in the dog’s abdominal area; Oso will need extensive diagnostics to figure out his medical status and how he can be helped. Today, he will be transferred to the organization’s specialty veterinarian hospital where he will receive the care he needs and deserves.
